Blogcritics On Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith – The Darthman Cometh

Opening May 19, the final and sixth film in George Lucas’s Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode 3 Revenge of the Sith — starring Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Natalie Portman, Ian McDiarmid and Samuel L. Jackson — is quickening the pulse of series fans worldwide who are thrilled, hopeful, nostalgic, and wistful all at once about the denouement of a way of life launched by the original classic film in 1977 – a way of life that has generated $3.5 billion at the box office and over $10 billion in merchandise sales over the years.

Almost three decades after the imposing mouth-breather first appeared on screen, we will finally see what led Anakin Skywalker to succumb to the dark side and become Darth Vader:

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith – Lessons In the Dark Side, Part I

Sith Happens
Wait a minute! Aren’t we Americans (and of course the world-wide fans of Star Wars, who are perhaps a little more American than they want to be) too sophisticated to buy into the Evil Empire myth? We can see shades of gray, we can interpret the nuances; are we not postmodernists?

Fear of Loss: What Anakin teaches us about ourselves

Whenever Christian Haydensen is doing anything other than fighting you wish either he or you were dead. Haydensen seems to have only two emotional states: outraged and creep. Make that one. Just creep. And not a very interesting creep. The love scenes are horrible as well. Couldn’t Lucas have had someone else write them?
