Once upon a time, were you writing about blackberries, it would have been about memories of blackberry jam, or perhaps a recipe for a blackberry pie, or you might have been writing about growing a blackberry bush.

Now, of course, you'll almost certainly be writing about the near-ubiquitous "wireless handheld device solution" – in minute-to-minute use by people ranging from the US president downward, perhaps the ultimate realization of author Milan Kundera's warning that "unity of mankind means: no escape for anyone anywhere.'' So bloggers will in using the blackberry tag be sharing technical tips, reporting on legal rows, and sharing stories about the horrible ends the devices can meet.
