The BC Goodie Bag is returning to the pages of Blogcritics.org and I’m happy to be taking over the reins from Anna Creech who has left awful big shoes for the other editors and I will try and fill. Once to twice a week I will continue to bring BC Music’s readers a sneak peak at what’s new and what’s coming in music. It is also my hope to dig around the web and bring you something new you might not have seen or heard otherwise.
In this week’s version of BC Music Goodie Bag we have streaming audio and embedded videos from Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis, Miranda Cosgrove, Eric Himan, KaiserCartel, Brett Michaels, and music from The Love Guru Soundtrack.
Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis
On July 8, 2008, you will be able to purchase Two Men with the Blues from Willie Nelson & Wynton Marsalis, but here at BC Music Goody Bag, we have a sneak peak for you. Take a listen to three songs from the upcoming album.
It may seem like an odd combination at first, one country icon matched up with a jazz legend, but the result is something quite interesting. The songs included on Two Men with the Blues were recorded at a concert performance in January of 2007 at the Lincoln Center.
- “Bright Lights, Big City” (Windows Media, Quicktime, Real Media)
- “Georgia on My Mind” (Windows Media, Quicktime, Real Media)

Back in April I reviewed the latest CD from Eric Himan, Resonate. Though true to his roots, this new CD shows a lot of growth for this artist who’s bound to break out any day.
This past weekend I was able to hear him perform a number of these songs at an in-store appearance in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and what a treat that was. The songs from Resonate are personal glimpses into Himan’s life, and you can’t get much more personal then seeing them performed in an acoustic setting. If you haven’t picked Resonate up yet, watch the video below to get a glimpse of what you are missing.
“Little Boy Blue”
KaiserCartel’s new CD, March Forth is being released on June 10, but we have a sneak peak of the new single “Oh No” for you right here.
Also, if you’re in NYC, Check them out at Joe’s Pub, also on June 10.
Bret Michaels, who is best known for his work with Poison and his reality show Rock of Love on VH1, released his new album Rock My World on June 3. This is his third solo album.
Michaels’ solo career began with the release of his debut solo album Songs of Life in 2003. He followed that up with Freedom of Sound in 2005. You can find new and information on Bret Michaels at his official website. Also, check out his MySpace Profile and YouTube presence.
