As you probably know, we are affiliated with Amazon for purchase of CDs, books, DVDs, games, electronics, etc. that we review and/or discuss (buy lots, NOW), proceeds of which help fund Blogcritics (we don’t ask for handouts).
It looks like we may be offering the Apple Music Store pretty soon as well:
- Apple Computer and Amazon.com are working on a deal that will make Apple’s popular new online music store available on Amazon, The Post has learned.
The parties are in advanced talks and a deal is expected, though sources warn that negotiations might still unravel.
A partnership of the two technology giants would have clear benefits for both.
Apple would gain a significant new distribution outlet for its fledgling but fast-growing music service. Amazon would be able to expand its offerings to digital music – something it has wanted to do for some time.
….Amazon has the technology to offer digital downloads. While the company has long sold compact discs, it does allow users to download some tracks that artists make available for free.
Meanwhile, Amazon has licensed its popular and patented “one click” technology to Apple. [NY Post]
This doesn’t make sense until the service is available for Windows PC’s, which is supposed to happen before the end of the year – I hope the price comes down also, but this would be a nice addition and would give us a chance to review songs as opposed to primarily albums. Very interesting.
