New movie-editing software goes on sale June 14:
- Apple, based in Cupertino, California, had unveiled the software in April during the National Association of Broadcasters meeting in Las Vegas. Final Cut Pro 4 will sell for about $999 [$911.99 from Amazon!!]
Apple, like many personal computer companies such as No. 1 PC makers Dell Computer Corp. and Gateway Inc. have been looking for ways to increase its revenue after a 3-year downturn in demand for PCs.
“We’ve had Final Cut Pro for the last 3 or 4 years now, but we’re always looking to make the bubble bigger and make the revenue streams larger,” said Paul Saccone, product marketing manager for the product.
Apple said the product is aimed at 3 sets of customers: editors, post-production or broadcast customers, and its own software developer community. [Reuters]
