From Clear Channel:
- Clear Channel Worldwide
(NYSE:CCU – News) today launched the Clear Channel NEW Music Network, which
will utilize the synergy of the company’s Radio, TV, Outdoor and
Entertainment divisions to help promising artists bring an unprecedented
amount of new music to new audiences.
The NEW Music Network will be free to artists who register their work and to
consumers who visit the network Web site to sample new music. The site,
which is still being developed, can be found at
www.ClearChannelNEWmusicNetwork.com or by visiting www.clearchannel.com.
The Internet-based Clear Channel NEW Music Network will have two primary
objectives:
To provide artists a place to be seen and heard by the industry and new
fans.
To give consumers, record companies and music business professionals
(including Clear Channel Radio and Clear Channel Entertainment) a place to
find and learn about new music and new artists.
“New music and new talent are the lifeblood of our business, so we are
thrilled that the Clear Channel NEW Music Network will provide an outlet for
more artists than ever to get their work heard by the interested public,”
said Mark Mays, president and chief operating officer of Clear Channel
Worldwide.
“Because of our ability to promote the network Web site and the musicians
through our combination of radio, outdoor, television, A&R Network and
entertainment resources, we can provide a powerful new way to benefit
artists and consumers alike.”
The NEW Music Network will build on the success of a year-old pilot program,
the A&R Network, an online artist development tool that showcases unsigned
talent from around the globe. Nine new artists have signed record contracts
as a result of participation in the A&R Network, and two more have contracts
pending.
“We expect to see many more up-and-coming artists reach new audiences
through the Clear Channel NEW Music Network, as the full-force of Clear
Channel Worldwide unites behind this project,” said Gerry Cagle, president
of Clear Channel’s NEW Music Network, which will be developed over the next
several months.
“Clear Channel already introduces more new artists and music than anyone
else, and the NEW Music Network will give even more artists the exposure
they desire, and will provide consumers with all kinds of new musical
choices.”
A Faustian bargain, caveat emptor good buddy.
