Android

Android is an operating system for mobile devices which runs on the Linux kernel. According to its developers, the Android OS offers a complete set of software for mobile devices: an operating system, middleware and key mobile applications. Android was developed by the Open Handset Alliance.

The Android OS promotes itself as a truly open system for mobile devices, and promises to continue delivering new internet-style innovations designed to keep up with the ever-changing nature of technology. The Android system also promises that users can tailor their mobile phones or other devices to a wide variety of applications (or apps) — such as movies, photos, music, social networking, or even proprietary apps such as this vehicle tracking Android app — based on the interests of the individual user.
