The 78th Academy Awards trailer, produced by Los Angeles-based media firm The Ant Farm, featuring memorable moments from Hollywood’s annual night of monumental self-congratulation, will be shown in more than 20,000 movie theaters throughout the United States through March 5.
The 30-second trailer flashes through numerous relatively recent Oscar-winning epiphanies — including those of Tom Hanks (“the emotion of this moment will never be diminished”), Halle Berry, Adrien Brody, Jamie Foxx, Denzel Washington, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts, Cuba Gooding Jr., Hilary Swank (“just a girl who had a dream”), Tim Robbins, and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck — accompanied by music from The Calling’s hit single “Our Lives.”
The Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements for 2005 will be presented on March 5, 2006, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland, and televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. PST. Jon Stewart will be hosting the presentation for the first time. Nominations for 78th Academy Awards will be announced on January 31 – Hollywood won’t breathe until then.
