In Philadelphia there is a great polarizing election for mayor. Current mayor John Street is running against white businessman Sam Katz. Under Street's management Philadelphia is in the toilet. Street is beholdent to the Unions and special interests. Crime is up, taxes are high, and businesses are leaving Philadelphia for areas like King of Prussia, Camden, and Lewes Deleware.
The Dems are in trouble. I think they know it. The strongest point of their upcoming campaigns against George Bush was going to be the relative weakness of the economy. They know they can't beat him on foreign affairs. They have no alternative to what President Bush had done.
The Pope has started telling people in African countries stricken by Aids not to use condoms because they have tiny holes in them through which the HIV virus can pass - potentially exposing thousands of people to risk.
