I'm an American who's spent most of his adult life as an English teacher in Tokyo. I started a blog because I had observations about culture and politics that I wanted to discuss with others. I tend to come at these issues less from a partisan viewpoint than a consideration of the fundamental cultural and political conditions created by the mass desires of the people, which is then reacted to by politicians and culturally significant people.
