Scott’s interest and passion for the automotive industry is evident in the writing as well as the video content on www.tuneyfish.com. TuneyFish is about creating the type of content that inspires and encourages DIY. Since the late ’90’s Scott became fully engaged in the collaboration through mailing lists which then led to the shift towards bulletin boards / forums as a means to communicate. These close knit communities created tech articles and fully articulated how-to guides so that new owners would be able to maintain and repair their own vehicle. In 2004, Scott launched Detroit Turbo, a performance parts company specializing in the domestic turbocharged performance market. The support and guidance Scott provided to new owners who called in to order parts seemed to share a sincere interest in doing their own work, but some of the work was quite a high barrier and difficult to explain in words or text. This was the beginning of the realization that video was the missing element, a reference that would provide deep insight at a fraction of the time it takes to grasp the subject. Scott is also working closely with auto repair shops and manufacturers to address high rates of returned products due to the misinformed consumer who doesn’t have the skills required to accomplish the repair. As the popularity of purchasing parts online grew, the rate of returns and vehicles that were being taken to shops for corrective repairs grew in parallel. TuneyFish will make it easier for consumers to make better buying decisions based on installation videos that capture a number of important details that may have previously been unavailable prior to purchasing the product.
