It was nearly three weeks after my 45th birthday in 2000 when I was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. After giving the condition lip service for more than seven years, I took part in an experimental deep brain stimulation surgery. I wrote a book about the experience that can be found on my website, http://parkinsondiary.com. I currently work from home as a writer-editor for the federal government, I gave up driving a year ago, I'm working on balance and gait issues at physical therapy, but through it all I try to keep my sense of humor. I blog about life with PD and the other things that annoy me.
