Many years after discovering this band on mp3.com I shot an email to the band and graciously received a copy of their newest release on Thick Furniture Records. These guys are simply amazing. Sixteen delicious bites of two minute, lo-fi songs of wit, charm, and all things interesting. I’m smiling at the country fun in I’ve Got Guns. I’m 10 again, listening to the crickets outside my bedroom window on The Caves of Sulphur White. I have no control of my head bobbing during The Moving Roots. There’s tastes of piano, quirky keyboard tricks, melodic bass bits, all tied together with a precision combination of drums and guitar – not to mention the “why didn’t I think of that?” melodies.
If you’re looking to impress your friends with your choice of traveling music you need to own The Pious Flats. In a time of sugar coated studio pop this album is one that stands apart from the clones.Powered by Sidelines
