After a slow start to the season, Desperate Housewives has finally rebounded in the ratings as it took the top spot Sunday night with 21 million viewers, up 30% from the previous week. And given the previews for the next episode, something tells me they'll be even higher next week.
The first two episodes of the season were a bit underwhelming — same with Housewives' ex-sister show Grey's Anatomy. The plotlines were a little weak, the stories didn't mesh well together, and the overall writing just wasn't very crisp. I didn't care about Bree's wedding, watching Susan shave Mike bored me, and Gabrielle hooking up with John the gardener was completely pointless.
The only halfway decent story was the boiling feud between Lynette and arch rival Nora. The conflict is set in reality, and both Kiersten Warren and Felicity Huffman do cat fights so damn well. And I have one thing to say about Lynette's kicking-the-door-down scene from last week — FIERCE!
The lovely Laurie Metcalfe is heating up Wisteria Lane next week with the much talked about "hostage", which is bound to be the hottest topic at the watercooler come Monday morning.
We were already told before the season started that one of the housewives will die this season and something tells me it'll happen in this episode. I'm saying for the record right now — if Lynette dies — I'm gonna be on my floor, bawling all night.
Part of me wants the homewrecking witch Nora to finally get what's coming to her — but at the same time, I want it to come straight from the sharp end of Lynette's heel — not some crazy woman's cheap pistol.
