This week on the Nintendo download services, we’ve got a new Bit. Trip game for Wii owners, while the DSi app market manages to sink even lower. And that’s without the help of another stupid notebook app.

This week’s games are as follows:

On DSiWare this week, we have Go! Go! Island Rescue! (Connect2Media, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), Spot the Difference (Enjoy Gaming, 1-6 players, 500 DSi Points), Go Series Defense Wars (Gamebridge, 1 player, 200 DSi Points) and Flashlight (Kaasa, 1 player, 200 DSi Points). Go! Go! Island Rescue! has you playing as firefighters to rescue a family from a volcano island resort (seriously, why not use a helicopter?), while Spot the Difference is pretty much what the title says: look at two pictures, find the differences. Go Series Defense Wars is another tower-defense game for DSi owners, this one from the folks who have brought us the rather fun Go series of games. Flashlight is a flashlight app. Yes. I’m serious.

WiiWare has two titles this week: Bit. Trip Fate (Aksys Games, 1 player, 800 Wii Points) and My Planetarium (Hudson, 1 player, 500 Wii Points). Bit. Trip Fate takes the series’ core mechanics and slides them into a side-scrolling shooter to create a very interesting (and difficult) game. My Planetarium is basically a game where you get to explore the stars and learn about constellations. Nothing too much here for older folk perhaps, but if you’ve got some little ones, this might be worth a look.

The Virtual Console is off this week. Bit. Trip Fate was just too awesome for it to want to steal its spotlight, apparently.

Bit. Trip Fate and My Planetarium are available for download off the Wii Shop Channel, whileGo! Go! Island Rescue!, Spot the Difference, Go Series Defense Wars and Flashlight are available for download off the DSi Shop Channel.

Check back next week for the latest round of digital releases for the Wii and DSi. Until then, happy gaming!
