After a long Fourth of July weekend here in the U.S. (and Canada Day weekend for our friends north of the border), we can all come back to some new downloadable games for the Wii and DSi. This week sees eight games in total on the download services.

On DSiWare this week, we have QuickPick Farmer (Dancing Dots, 1 player, 200 DSi Points), Soul of Darkness (Gameloft, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), SteamWorld Tower Defense (Image & Form, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), 101 Shark Pets (Teyon, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), Hello Flowerz (Enjoy Gaming, 1 player, 500 DSi Points), Flips: The Folk of the Faraway Tree (EA, 1 player, 500 DSi Points). QuickPick Farmer puts you in charge of saving and shearing sheep, while Soul of Darkness is something of a Castlevania clone of sorts, but one that was apparently pretty well liked. SteamWorld Tower Defense is tower defense (what a shock!), 101 Shark Pets lets you play with pet sharks you can adopt and Hello Flowerz not only is a gardening simulation but manages to draw my ire for doing the one thing I hate to see in titles of gamez… errr, games. Finally, Flips: The Folk of the Faraway Tree is yet another installment in EA's interactive storybook series.

WiiWare has two titles this week: Pearl Harbor Trilogy – 1941: Red Sun Rising (Legendo Entertainment, 1 player, 700 Wii Points) and Cruise Party (Enjoy Gaming, 1-4 players, 800 Wii Points). Pearl Harbor Trilogy – 1941: Red Sun Rising features two historically-based campaigns and some dogfighting action against the Japanese. Cruise Party, meanwhile, is a cruise-themed compilation of gambling games.

The Virtual Console's cleaning up after the July Fourth celebrations and was too busy to show up this week. (That's a joke: there's no release this week).

Pearl Harbor Trilogy – 1941: Red Sun Rising and Cruise Party are available for download off the Wii Shop Channel, while QuickPick Farmer, Soul of Darkness, SteamWorld Tower Defense, 101 Shark Pets, Hello Flowerz and Flips: The Folk of the Faraway Tree are available for download off the DSi Shop Channel.

Check back next week for the latest round of digital releases for the Wii and DSi. Until then, happy gaming!
