So, with the news that the Wii’s successor — the mysterious Project Cafe, as it’s currently called — will be revealed at E3 this year, you might be expecting Nintendo to be laying off the digital downloads on the Wii a bit. Well, one could argue they’ve been doing that already, but this week sees another few games trickle out. On the Wii side, it’s not very much, but the DSi does have a neat little application on the service starting this week. And no, it’s not a notebook app.

This week’s games are as follows:

WiiWare has a game and a demo this week in the form of Word Searcher Deluxe (Digital Leisure, 1-4 players, 500 Wii Points) and a demo of Learning with the PooYoos: Episode 3 (Lexis Numerique, 1 player). Word Searcher Deluxe is a collection of 100 word search puzzles for you to solve, each one with a different theme to it.

On DSiWare, we have Airport Mania: First Flight (Lemon Games, 1 player, 200 DSi Points), Inchworm Animation (Flat Black Films, 1 player, 500 DSi Points) and Ubongo (Korner Entertainment, 1-2 players, DSi Points). Airport Mania: First Flight has you safely landing planes at one of eight different airports. Ubongo, meanwhile, is a digital version of a board game in which players have to make shapes out of colored tiles. But the real steal of the week might just be Inchworm Animation, a drawing and animation program with a ton of features that makes good use of the DSi and stylus, it seems. The images can be as big as 9,999 x 9,999 pixels in size, which is pretty darn big. Have to recommend this for the artistic readers out there, for sure!

The Virtual Console is off this week, which is pretty much the norm now a days. We should (hopefully) see a release next week, as long as this whole Project Cafe thing doesn’t make Nintendo forget they still have a console on the market right now …

… I kid, I kid. I doubt they’d forget it, though at times, their download offerings suggest otherwise.

Word Searcher Deluxe and the demo are downloadable off the Wii Shop Channel right now, While Airport Mania: First Flight, Inchworm Animation and Ubongo are available for download off the DSi Shop Channel.

That’s it for this week’s list of DSiWare and WiiWare games. Until next time, happy gaming!
