“Do you like what you see?” asked Adam Lambert in his American Music Awards debut performance of “For Your Entertainment.” Well, it was a yes or no question. “I bet you thought that I was soft and sweet,” the lyrics continue. “You thought an angel swept you off your feet. Well I’m about to turn up the heat.”
Things did get pretty hot for Adam with ABC, which as a preemptive strike cancelled three scheduled live performances including New Year’s Rockin' Eve, but he was welcomed back this week with pre-taped appearances on the Barbara Walters special, “The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009,” and “The View,” affording some who didn’t like what they saw on the AMA an idea of his versatility, with a song that better showcases his voice, Pink’s ‘Whataya Want From Me?”
Whatever anyone wants, “it’s not American Idol anymore,” Adam advises us, “this is my career.” And he’ll be rockin’ New Year’s Eve with or without ABC’s blessing, headlining Gridlock New Year’s Eve 2010 at Paramount Picture Studios in Los Angeles, hosted by Pamela Anderson, a 21 and up event. Tickets range from $150 for general admission to $3500 for Main Stage VIP seats. And this time, as he says in "For Your Entertainment," it'll be his show.
"Let’s go, it’s my show, baby, do what I say / Don’t trip off the glitz that I’m gonna display / I told ya, Imma hold ya down until you’re amazed / Give it to ya til your screamin' my name." After this crazy year that turned his life upside down, I have a feeling this will be Adam’s real coming out party.
