On Thursday, August 26th, at the third annual Sunset Strip Music Festival, former Guns N’ Roses/Snakepit/Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash announced that he would be launching a new North American Tour immediately following the close of the festival events.
August 26th was “Slash Day” in West Hollywood, and the veteran rocker was honored at the festival, and then again later, at a House of Blues tribute. The House of Blues event featured speeches from close friends, Nikki Sixx (Motley Crue), Lemmy Kilmister (Motorhead), and Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains). The evening wrapped up with live music performances and a presentation from the city, honoring the heavy metal icon’s contributions to music, as well as his support of his fellow musicians. Slash is well-loved and respected amongst his peers for his talent as a guitarist, and for his generous inclusion of fellow rock musicians on his solo projects.
Also announced at the event is the September 2nd launch date for SlashFM on the Clear Channel Radio “iheartradio” network. The limited time A.P.E radio station will feature music from Slash’s own playlist, along with his personal commentary, and the music that he has created during his career both as a solo artist and as the lead guitarist for Guns N’ Roses. It will also feature Slash’s signature top hat as part of the logo design.
Fans have been encouraged to participate in SlashFM by sending their suggestions to email@example.com.
