WALL-E was a 2008 animated feature film released by famed animated studio Pixar. The film centers around the lovable WALL-E, the lonely last trash-collecting robot on Earth. Humans have fled the planet because it became inhabitable because of pollution and environmental destruction, leaving only WALL-E and a single cockroach. A probe from outer space brings a visitor, a robot named EVE. EVE steals WALL-E's heart and he follows her across the galaxy and, in the process, saves humanity all in the pursuit of love and friendship.
Director Kevin Smith called it the "ballsiest animated film ever made." Rotten Tomatoes have it a 96% "fresh" rating, making it one of the highest-rated movies of the summer of 2008. The Los Angeles Film Critics named it their top film of 2008. Wall-E was nominated for two Golden Globe awards, an honor that often indicates Academy Award potential. The film is now available on DVD and Blu-ray DVD, where it continues to get high praise.
