You're Hired! You're The Apprentice! Now Get in the Commercial!

Kendra won. She’s the Apprentice.

Which is nice – I’m happy for her. She deserved it.

But the rest of the finale was simply awful and not a little bit insulting as well. The first part of the hour was yet another grueling recap of the entire season, something we’ve seen several times before to varying extents. We then entered the live set with the band and the crowd and all, which was fine. Trump then goaded the two finalists into attacking each other and defending themselves, which was also all well and good.

The ending of the show (and the season) was a travesty. Kendra was announced as the winner with the already classic cliché of “You’re hired.” Was she asked what she thought about winning this 16-week competition and going on to refurbish a mansion in Florida for Trump (a project that is strikingly below the caliber of the projects that past winners Bill and Kelley took on)? No. There is a cut to music while Kendra is literally shoved out the door so that she can get into her new Pontiac… in time for the Pontiac commercial.

Are you serious? I watched this show for months, wrote about it for months, talked about it on my podcast for months… so that I can watch a woman driving a car?

I’m insulted. I may not be on board for the next edition of The Apprentice.

I’ll be looking for my pride in the meantime. Maybe it’s in my car.

Once again, Tana made herself look bad by going on and on about how Pontiac liked the brochure because of the shape. Get real! Obviously, that's not the only reason they liked it. She looked desperate and less than classy.

They tried to find some faults with both candidates. For Kendra, it was that she cried and that she did not become project manager earlier on. Weak points.

For Tana, it was true that she didn't treat her teammates well. Tana's currency began to slide for me when she wouldn't stick around to help Kendra with the brochure task.

No doubt about it, Kendra was the best choice between the two of them. Tana was her own worst enemy.

To quote another BlogCritic (Bill Wallo perhaps?) Tana was like school during summer...

    No class.

For me, her true colors began to came out when she brazenly took control of the Pontiac presentation after turning in early as Kendra stayed up all night.

You're right in saying that the points against Kendra were rather weak as well. Not stepping up until later in the competition, George mentioned. Sorry, but that's just good strategy. She stepped up like crazy when it became her time, and she became The Apprentice because of it.

Right Nicolette... but I wanted to give Mr. Wallo his due first!

Rather than the actual originator of the phrase? OK, if that makes sense to you.

I think Kendra looked hot in Jay Leno tonight.

I'm glad I had been watching the pre-recorded Stacked last night and had completely forgotten about Apprentice.

Tonight when I finally saw it I realized I hadnt missed much. The finale lacked punch.

The Aprentice finale was one hour. Survivor's finale was two hours. I wonder if the Aprentice is one its way out after the Martha Stewart series.

The Apprentice is slated for its fourth season this fall, Triniman.

They cut the live finale for Season Three to one-hour in an attempt to cut the blote and Regis asking questions and all the promo stuff for the The Contender which no one was interested in.

However, even at an hour, it was still anti-climactic and insulting (for reasons I explain in my original post).

I'd like to see The Apprentice minimize the over-the-top product/company tie-ins and get back to being a show about people vying for a top-notch job.

I dunno...it's a show about capitalism and so the over the top product placement seems apropos.

I agree to an extent. I can put up with quite a bit, but the ending of the finale -- what "we've all been waiting for" all season long -- was sabotaged in favor of an in-show commercial for a car.

So instead of hearing what Kendra thought about the win, what Tana thought about losing to Kendra (I would have loved to hear that, personally), what Bill, Kelley, George, Carolyn, and even Trump himself thought about Kendra and the season at large for a few minutes, we got a car commercial.

I can see a car commercial anywhere, anyplace, anytime.

Not worthy of setting the DVR for, I'm afraid.

Speaking of DVRs, mine's busted at the moment. If I miss the final two eps of The Contender, I'm a gon be upset.

The ENTIRE series is a commercial, God Bless America and God Bless Donald Trump.

This past weekend The Donald was all over the place about the new World Trade Center HE wants to build.

The man knows how to get attention and getting attention is what's it's all about.
