Vote Now: Universal Studios Hollywood and Chiller's Film Contest

In July, the opportunity of a lifetime was offered to aspiring filmmakers. Their task: to make the ultimate scary short film. Now you can award your favorite film the most epic prize: a broadcast of the filmmaker’s short film on the Chiller network, $1,000, and a trip for two to the opening night of Halloween Horror Nights (October 2nd) in Hollywood.

Let’s go into a little more detail: last summer, Universal Studios Hollywood and Chiller put this content together in celebration of Halloween Horror Nights, the best Halloween attraction in Southern California. Aspiring filmmakers submitted short films which were judged by a group of celebrity judges – Saw VI director Kevin Gruetert, Syfy’s Executive Vice President of Programming and Original Movies Thomas P. Vitale, and Universal Halloween Horror Nights Creative Director, John Murdy.

Over a hundred aspiring filmmakers submitted films and the celebrity judges picked their top ten. Now, it’s your turn. There’s only one vote per person, so vote carefully. You have until September 25th, but vote now, before you forget.

And while you’re voting, you might as well buy tickets to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood. Ticket pricing varies. For example, if you go opening night, October 2nd, you get $20 off admission. But you have to buy now. There are fifteen other nights, so there’s always a chance to go.

I’ve been to Halloween Horror Nights three times now. I’ve always been satisfied and every year, it gets better and better. It’s always different, so there’s always that element of surprise. This year, there are FOUR new mazes and FOUR new “scare zones.” Plus, the Terror Tram (which is the only time guests can get off the tram and explore the back lot, where they film thousands of movies and TV shows) is going to be different. Also new are a Rocky Horror Picture Show tribute and a Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure show.

The best part of Halloween is the scary attractions. Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights is the best scary attraction in Southern California… believe me, I’ve done them all. Go vote in the Film Contest. It will really make someone’s day. Plus, the videos are pretty fun to watch.
