UPN and World Wrestling Entertainment are being attacked because of last week's "Smackdown" episode where it showed WWE wrestler, the Undertaker, being the victim of a terrorist attack. It also just happened to be July 7th, the day of the London terror bombings.…

Do you honestly believe there would even BE a Muhammad-Hassan character if 9/11 hadn't happened? The only reason his discrimination angle worked is because of the hassles Arab-Americans have had to endure BECAUSE of 9/11 and the Patriot Act. As I said before, the WWE could not put out a character that was positioned as a terrorist because it would simply be TOO insensitive even for them. So they did the next best thing which was to get Muhammad Hassan who is not a terrorist but a disgruntled American Citizen and positioned him as a heal. Same effect, with less controversy. Hassan was still a stereotype and would not exist if the War on Terror did not, plain and simple.

I know he wouldn't exist if 9/11 never happened. That's his problem. He's upset about the way he's been treated since 9/11. You, the ones who call them terrorists, are proving that everything he says is/was right. How many times have wrestlers used help from friends/other superstars to beat Undertaker? He is a very intimidating person. Hassan knows can't beat Undertaker by himself, he needs help. But he can't get help from a group of masked guys without being called a terrorist because he's of Arab descent.

So is M&M offensive because they're stereoypes of Hollywood actors? Stone Cold because he's a red neck?
No?
Well then why is Hassan? He's not offensive, peopple just choose to make him be. He's a fantastic in-ring worker, and it's a shame they had to do this because some people felt it was insensitive while they were flipping the channel and missed a blatant warning.

Well guys, i know this angle was all done for publicity and Hassan was supposed to be a promising heel character. But as Jones Violet said before, It was actually hurting the already damaged image of Arabs and Muslims. As people are so quick to judge them terrorists without any proof or anything. and Vince McMahon could have done something better to rectify that but Alas!! he has done sheer stupidity and American people who are already being "FOOLED" by the propaganda machinery of States against Muslims will now develop more hatred.

Vince McMahon and the WWE made it clear that the men weren't terrorists. They posted it on their site and they posted the video response from Hassan. They couldn't do anything else really because Hassan wasn't allowed on tv. So you can't really blame Mr. McMahon, if anything, blame UPN. However, no one should be blamed for anything, because nothing wrong happened.

In response to some of the recent comments I will say this. We know that most WWE characters are built on some kind of stereotype (as Matt pointed out) however, Hassan's character is in particular bad taste because of the severity of 9/11. How would you feel if you were an Arab-American who was brought in for questioning (in real life) and then saw your experience trivialized by caricatures like Muhammad Hassan? Anyone who studies media knows that images create reality in the minds of the audience. While some of us are adult enough to know the difference between the silliness of wrestling personas and have the privilege of interacting with real Arab-Americans understand this, others will watch Muhammad Hassan and generalize his behavior and perpetuate the negative feelings towards Arabs that is already quite prevalent in this country. In short, nothing good comes from trivializing real problems in the way that Muhammad Hassan's angle has. The same people who boo at wrestling events when Hassan rants about his problems with discrimination are the same people who will laugh when REAL people raise the problem of discrimination in REAL life.

If wrestling din't use stereotypes and was purely "politically correct" it would be BORRRRRING! If there were no skits, trash talking, etc. and was just purely "wrestling" and nothing else - no one would watch it. Pure and simple. The Muhammad Hassan skit was about bad timing with the London Tragedy -PERIOD! Nothing else.

WWE is the shit. Don't call it garbage. Those men were not ever supposed to be terrorists. Trust me. I have inside connections. Those skits that you call garbage, are actually makes wrestling fun to watch. They give it a plot line. As was already stated above. It was just bad timing.

Muhammad Hassan is entertaining. BIG DEAL undertaker terrorist attack... blahblahblah. I am sick of these IDIOTS complaining. Muhammad Hassan makes it worth watching. Something interesting happening.
These are the same idiots... who... "oh my God. A worldwar game on Xbox." Or "Socom 2, you can play as a terrorist online! How stupid!" What a bunch of imbeciles. These are only found on the internet, never find real actual people in the world complaining about it.

Just watched a DVD on Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Chuck Liddel vs Tito Ortiz. Awesome and REAL!
Have any of these WWE or WWF guys ever tried out UFC? Would really like to see one or two of them fight in UFC.
