Zoey 101, a show about students at Malibu boarding school, stars Britney Spears' younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears. It is currently in its second season with new episodes Sundays at 8 pm Pacific Time. Overall, it is a pretty good show. However, it could definitely be improved.
The main reason I watch Zoey 101 is its outstanding supporting cast. The solid supporting cast includes: Matthew Underwood, Erin Sanders, Sean Flynn, Alexa Nikolas, Kristin Herrera (Season 1 only), Christopher Massey, and Victoria Justice (Season 2 only). They are what makes the show.
So I wonder: why is Jamie Lynn Spears the star? I have asked many other fans of the show and we all agree — it is obviously because she is Britney's little sister. I know that the show would be perfectly fine without her, but then again, the name of the show is Zoey 101. I actually didn't form my opinion of Jamie because of what I think of Britney, because, to be perfectly honest, I really don't hate Britney Spears. The fact is simple: Jamie is just not a very good actress.
I hate the fact that the show focuses entirely around around Jamie. I know, the show is called Zoey 101 and Jamie plays Zoey, but come on! Sometimes I wonder why I watch her bad acting. Season 2 has been an improvement due to one fact. In season 2, the show has started using more A and B story lines. This means one of the story lines does not involve Jamie at all, and to be honest, that story line is better. I am not saying Jamie shouldn't be on the show, but the talents of the other actors and actresses should be recognized and used in the plot more.
For example, the last episode featured was called "Robot Wars." Basically, to prove that Zoey and her friends are just as smart as geeks, they challenge the nerds to a Robot War. The problem was that Zoey and her friends didn't know how to build a bot. So they relied on Quinn, played by Erin Sanders. Quinn is the kooky girl who is always working on mad science experiments. Quinn agreed and started building the bot and needed to get something from her room. Logan, played by Matthew Underwood, is the rich self centered jerk of the group. When Quinn was gone, he started making fun of her and the gang laughed at his hurtful comments. Little did anyone know, Quinn had walked back into the room, telling them she heard the whole thing.

You wouldn't even do a review of the show if it weren't for the fact that the star is Britney's sister. Heck, why take the hassle of mentioning that fact three or four times. It's so pathetically sad how someone bias pretends not be.

Julie--First of all, I'd like to point out you are entitled toyour opinion, but then again I'm entitled to mine. I have already told you that I don't hate Britney Spears. I really don't. I'm against the fact that Nick gave Jamie her own show for the simple fact that she's Britney's sister. The point of this review was to praise other talents of the show. If I was biased, when I heard Jamie was the star, would I turn the show on? Not a chance. I love Zoey 101. I don't like that Nick is giving her a show because of genetics. It's stupid. She would make a nice supporting actress, but I don't think she's cut out to be a star. Jamie is not the only one getting her own show. Emma Roberts, Julie Robert's Niece, is the star of Unfabulous. I have read Alli Lohan, Lindsay Lohan's sister, is getting a show coming out on Nick soon. I am not biased. I know you are entitled to your opinion, but you don't really know me and you picked up the wrong message from this article.

i kinda agree with wot u said about jamie getting the role of zoey in zoey 101 just coz shes britney's lil sis, but that doesn't mean you can say jamie is not a good actress she is a good actress and i love the way she acts, wots ur bussiness about the way jamie is appearing in all the parts the directors of zoey 101 wanna make it to be like that coz they know dat jamie can do it properly didn't u ever think of that? and like u said u can't make them change it which u can't so please stop saying dat jamie can't act, have u acted before and know how hard it is? i know u havn't so don't say she can't act coz she can

hey, U R totally right and all those people who think Jamie Lynn Spears CAN act, are on some type of weed. Kristen Herrera and Alexa Nikolas are really good actresses too but they are only the "roomates" that only get a line or two in episodes. The whole Frggin show revolves around Zoey's problems and it gets pretty annoying, you know what i mean? They should switch people's problems around... but like you said, there's nothing we can do to change it. OH Welll.... but even if I were the producer, I would not call the show "ZOEY 101" why couldn't it be called "Logan 16" or "Dana101" becasue she gets all the parts and she is not doing a good job! Screw Nick! I'm going back to Disney if they keep up this shit. Bye

u r freally funny bout why can't it be logan 16 or dana101 isn't it obvious why it can't be dat first coz her sisters popular and coz she can do the part well maybe but come to think of it, it wouldn't sound well as logan16 or dana101 but anyway dunno watever they wana do but i still don't care am gonna be watching it anytime it comes out, but its a shame they havn't started the new episode yet in uk coz i can't watch the new one coz am in da uk we its ok the new show will start on 3rd of april by 9.30am wow!!!

I would just like to say that i watch Zoey 101. And I agree with you 100%. Jamie is an ok actor. But Kristin and Alexa are just as good. Maybe even better. Its not that I dont like Jamie. I just think its not fair that she gets her own show just because she has the same last name as Britney Spears. There are a lot of other talented girls out there who never get a chance because they arent related to a super star. I just want to know why Kristin Herrera (Dana) isnt coming back to the show. She was my favourite! I cnat watch the new shows either until a few weeks because i live in Canada. I find that very annoying.

i Think Zoey 101 is a great show! Jamie isnt ta great actress her facial expressions are always the same. But i think in season 2 her acting has improved a lot. Nicole(Alexa) She isn't that great! Dana(Kristen) was the best actress, it's a shame she isn't in season 2. I am enjoying season 2.. It started here in the uk on april 3rd.. today i watched Election.. ithought it was funny when everyone nicole and lola kept drinking Zoey's coffee! Time capsule was good. but i was annoyed at zoey when mr bender was telling logan what a time capsule was, and she kept interupting..! over all i lurve it! An they all look really older!

My favorite person in Zoey 101 is Chase. I think it's funny that something always interrupts them when Chase tries to tell Zoey that he loves her. I like Quinn aswell, and Zoey of course. I use to listen to Britney Spears all the time, and I didn't know that Jamie was her sister till I had watched it a few times. Liona (Lilli)

I really like michael, he is soo funny! Like in series 1 when Quinne gives him crisps and he can't talk propaly or walk propaly! I think p.c.a would be an awesome school 2 go 2! They have funky rooms, swimming pool, sushi bar, and they never seem to do much work! They are even alowed Mobiles in the classrooms, laptops and drinks. In the school i go 2 in the u.k were not alowed to have mobile's in school, and we can only drink water in the classrooms! And worst of all i have to wear a horrible uniform! Black boiling jumper, tie, black trousers/skirts and shoes.. but sometimes we have non school uniform days for charity! I would love to go to P.C.A!! And i think Zoey looks so much grown up with Brown hair.

I agree. Jamie is an OK actress but not the best. They got rid of Dana because the producers felt she was too "old" for the show - hello?! I like Chase best, he's sweet and he's a good actor. They all are, I just find it a bit commercialised that they gave the show to Jamie, purely because she is Britney's sister. I love Britney so don't say I'm being biased. I don't like all this rubbish with celebrity relations having their own shows such as Emma Roberts - she can't ACT! Anyway, I do love Zoey 101 all the same :D

I think Dana was awesome.. she did look older than the rest of them though.. today i watched the on where Dustin dates Trisha.. i thought it was okay.. and Michael and Logan got sprayed by a skunk. If Emma Roberts is thegitl off unfabulous i think she is a terrible actress and her voice is so high and squeeky! I love Zoey 101, i don't care if she got picked as the lead coz she's Britneys sister. the show wouldn't be the same without her! Go Jamie!!
