This episode of the Venture Bros. taught me a good lesson — never go digging up the past. Brock finds this tape of Dr. Venture's dad, with explicit instructions for constructing... something. So the night turns into a deadline to find the pieces to this machine.
Even before they go off on yet another adventure, an alien being (who is loud and annoying as piss) comes to the Venture compound. Does he shoot laser beams or have amazing otherworldly strength? Maybe, but all he seems to do is say, um... stuff. The entire family gets involved, which means that Dr. venture's malformed twin brother Jonas Venture Jr. (AKA Dr. Venture) is on the team as well. The venture twins form one team (isn't this totally illegal?), while Dr. Jonas Venture Jr. and the crewmate from the ghost pirate episode in season one (?) form another team. Dr. Venture (not the deformed twin one, the normal one) and Brock form the third team.
If I told you that a grown up Johnny Quest was in this episode, would you believe me? Well, then I won't. He's in this episode, though. Thought I would tell you that. The ghost pirate guy and Jonas Jr. (he's a doctor, you know) find a piece in an underwater lab, while also finding the son of Dr. Quest, who is dying for some prescription meds.
The Venture brothers go to the home of a member of the classic Team Venture, Colonel Gentleman. Let's say that Gentleman's not looking well and keep it at that. As expected, Hank says something stupid and funny, then Dean says something anachronistic, totally out of his age range, and funny. Or is it the other way around? Sometimes I get confused, even though the twins are fraternal.
