"Timebomb" is the bomb, a beautifully paced and shot episode with laugh out loud scenes, nail biting tension, and some deeper and timely discussion on the difficulties of bringing about peace through violence. We finally get to meet Godric properly and oh my, is he worth the wait. Godric, Eric, and Jason own this episode, as we get to see some tenderness from the vampires and some kickass action from Stackhouse, who turns out to be wicked with a paint gun.
I was lukewarm on Jason last season, but the word that springs to mind to describe him in this episode is “awesome.” Nothing else really captures his Incredible Hulk transformation when Sarah insults his sister or his well placed paintball shot between Rev Newlin’s eyes. Jason finally sees the light about the Fellowship of the Sun, and in particular the Newlins, and even if he doesn’t convince Eric to eat Steve, he delivers one heck of a smackdown as he tells Steve he’s found heaven and that it’s inside Steve’s wife.
As if he wasn’t already great tonight, he then shows his remarkable adaptive ability as he parties with the vampires at Godric’s house. First, he joins one of those horrid reception lines to congratulate Godric on being alive and gets Godric’s thanks for saving the day. He walks away with a bit of glow, only to run into Eric, whose thanks consists of letting Jason know he knows Jason was dealing and using V and that is a big no-no in his book. However, under the circumstances, he will forgive, as long as Jason agrees that he will never do V again. Poor Jason is so rattled, Eric, to his private amusement, has to tell him how to shake his head no. Jason totters off, glad to be alive.
But he’s not so rattled he forgets that his manners in regard to Bill having been less than what Gran would have wished. He drags a relieved Bill out of an awkward conversation with Sookie, who can’t get a straight answer from her boyfriend on why he didn’t show up at the church for two days when she was in trouble. Bill thinks Jason’s brought a welcome reprieve and doesn’t quite know what to do when Jason follows up with a "welcome to the family" hug. Jason delivers one of the laugh out loud moments of the episode when he breaks off the hug to ask Bill worriedly if the hug was good for him. The next time we see Jason, he’s chatting up a cute vampire, not a bit chastened that his last conquest took the phrase “messy break up” to new heights when she shot him in a very delicate area with a paint gun. Then again, his searching for salvation this season hasn't led anywhere better than his bed-hopping did last season, so he may as well enjoy himself.

Jason and Sarah's paintball scene is an instant classic.

Thanks for stopping by, and yes, I agree. Jason was a hoot in every scene he was in, and Sarah was perfect as the Wronged Woman with a paint gun and not afraid to use it.
