TV Review: The OC "The Last Waltz"

Part of: The OC

Marissa starts school at Newport Union while Summer starts her duties as the new social chair at Harbor. Dean Hess is being his creepy self and coming down hard on Seth during detention. Ryan is home schooling so he can focus on getting his life back on track, at least that’s Sandy’s idea.

Julie Cooper-Nichol is notified that she has 48 hours to move out because the house and its contents are being sold for payment of debts. In the meantime, Marissa is staying with Summer till they get back on their feet.

At Newport Union, Marissa bumps into trouble—literally bumps into Heather who has taken it upon herself to give Marissa a hard time. Luckily, Casey steps in to save her and Marissa meets the first of her three new friends. Maybe being in public school will teach Marissa how to have some taste in clothing.

Taylor is up to no good and pretends to be some innocent lonely girl to get in with Summer. Instead, she uses it to ruin Summer and gain back her position as social chair. Can I just say I KNEW something skanky was going on between Taylor and Dean Hess? I’m proud of my girl Summer for figuring it out. I think she’s about to bring the “human quagmire” down!

Marissa ditches plans with Ryan a few times. It is really annoying and frustrating. Every time she makes new friends she drops him—anyone remember Oliver and how well that turned out? Ryan spots Marissa crying and some guy near her. Seeing as his brother just tried raping her and she shot him, Ryan assumed she was being harassed and jumped out a little too forcefully. Though it is somewhat understandable, he still needs to calm down. And he should have actually apologized to Marissa when he called. Ryan should have also apologized to Johnny when he saw her going to the Newport Union dance. But then, Marissa should have invited (or at least told) Ryan also. Can you tell I’m not Marissa’s biggest fan?

Oh and for those of you Down Under.... they're waiting to see what ratings it gets in the US before they decide when to release the third season, but the soonest possible is in November, however it is more likely to happen after the new year.
