TV Review: The Colbert Report - Keith Olbermann

A recent poll states 48 percent of America doesn’t trust the media. Okay — I have nothing to back that up, but it feels right. Doesn’t it? It feels like the media can’t be trusted. Is this really so surprising? With all the anti-American news in the media it is hard to keep faith. It is for this reason that I became a religious follower of Stephen Colbert.

Apparently the Enron trial is still going on in some southern state. I don’t know — does anyone even care about that anymore? I lost interest after Martha was convicted. Anyway, it seems that Andrew Fastow, who was supposed to take the blame for the whole thing, is now pointing fingers. Which led us to last night’s word, Scapegoat. Stephen pointed out how no one in America remembers how to take one for the team. When I was in Little League, I literally took one for the team being hit “accidentally” by the ball 11 times over a season. Americans need to step up and crowd the plate so that we can easily move men into scoring position.

In a segment called “Was It Really That Bad,” Stephen talked about life before labor unions. He said, “going to work was a family experience,” and “everyday was bring your daughter to work day.” Stephen, you have opened my eyes. Labor unions are destroying America’s families. By making it nearly illegal to work alongside your children for fifteen hours of the day, family time has been severely cut back. Since Unions really took hold in the late-1800s, teenagers have changed from the good hard working kids of Little House on the Prairie to the super rebellious, won’t-listen-to-anybody teens of today. However I disagree that the hockey strike was the only good thing labor unions did. Without all those picketers outside of Wal-Mart, all my rotten eggs would go to waste.
