Now, where did we leave off? Japan? Ah, yes, that's it! Domo arigato! We were at the Pit Stop where Phil announced there would be no more eliminations in the race. However, since Ray and Yolanda came in last on the leg, they lost all of their money and possessions...in Tokyo (a very expensive city) with only the clothes they had on their backs and their passports.

BJ and Tyler only had a two-minute head start against Jeremy and Eric, but made sure to stop at Ray and Yolanda's car to leave them some money and "stuff." I don't believe Jeremy and Eric left anything at all. While the flight tickets are paid for by the production staff, nothing else is. So, they had to beg.
And, beg they did. They went to restaurants, Ray wore a white sign dangling from his neck, which read "yen." While he made more of an effort than I ever thought he would, even a humble and gracious one, it was Yolanda who brought in the bucks. The Japanese businessmen in one restaurant thought she looked like Janet Jackson and she had them handing over the money with ease.
All three teams caught up to each other at the airport and were on the same flight heading to Anchorage, Alaska. None of the teams seemed to be too happy about that situation, but the Frat Boys (Eric and Jeremy) seemed outright disgusted.
Once in Alaska, the teams had to drive thirty miles to Mirror Lake where they faced a Detour (a choice of two tasks relating to the local area). This one was Drill It or Deliver It. In Drill It, teams had to drill ten holes in the lake's ice with an auger, then drag an ice-fishing shack over to their area, setting it up to be approved by a local. In Deliver It, teams would have had to fly supplies 150 miles while doing the navigation for the pilot. Scratch that. All teams had to do Drill It because bad weather grounded all the planes.

Oh I loved the article and, like you, we LOVED BJ and Tyler. We were cheering and screaming when they won. They laughed their way through the race and proved you do not have to be nasty, cut throat, or mean to win. They always had a smile and even when they lost everything, life was an adventure. I thank them for putting big smiles on my face every week. This is what the race is about. I could not stand the abusive husbands that were in two races (including this season). They should have been taken off the show and their behavior not tolerated by the producers. But BJ and Tyler - WAY TO GO!

Thank you for the kind words, Lynne! Such a refreshing team! I'm so happy that they won.

What a season! The locations they traveled to look like my to-do list of "Places To Visit Before I Go." Italy (beautiful women (ask Phil and his camera) & overwhelmingly historically rich), Australia (beautiful women and jaw-dropping natural diversity), Japan (beautiful women in Tokyo and amazing culture), and much more. Fantastic selections and brilliantly played by the TAR people responsible.
When the hippies heard "That's correct!" and started bolting to the finish line, I was screaming more than they were. I thought they were a little overboard at first, but quickly learned that's just the way they are. They pulled no punches and laid it on the line as is. I certainly admired how they were able to maintain their composure under stressful circumstances. The majority of the teams lose it at least once, and start yelling at a partner or at other teams. The hippies, a moniker they willingly adopted without hesitation, maintained control and kept themselves cordial and clear-headed at all times. As clear-headed as TAR will let you be. I agree that BJ & Tyler were exceptional 'ambassadors' for America. They made an effort to learn at least a few words of a foreign tongue, and always were gracious and respectful of whom they spoke with. Tyler even let a Japanese girl stroke his beard. What a guy. And as Tyler mentioned on The Early Show, it's their belief that spreading goodwill and partaking of the various cultures in your travels is a good thing. Even if you two had lost the big money, I would have considered the zest and zeal with you attempted it a plus. All this talk about Karma must have Yolanda size legs after all. Great job and thanks for showing us how nice guys can finish first.
Does anyone know what TTOW! signifies? Besides $500,000 for each of them? ;-)
