TV Review: So You Think You Can Dance - Week 8 - Page 3

Okay, so that's more of an anti-dancer rant than a pro-Joshua sentiment. He's still a fantastic talent. I like that his skill set doesn't necessarily match up with his look; you'd stereotype his physical appearance and presence and assume he's a bad-ass hip-hopper, which he is. Then you watch him perfectly execute a contemporary routine or a pasa doble, and it's incredibly disarming and exciting. Giving the season to Joshua is more than just a vote for great dance — it sends a message that to be a successful dancer, you don't need to be a perky white girl who weighs forty pounds dripping wet.

Cat Deeley: And the true champion, of this or any season of SYTYCD, is its hostess. The bit last night where she put on Twitch's fake glasses and fake silver teeth caps just reminded me how amazing she is. There are just some people who were born to be on television, and it doesn't really matter what they do; they're more than hosts, or talent. They're broadcasters. People like Regis Philbin, David Letterman, Anthony Bourdain... point a camera at them, and something entertaining will happen.

That's Cat Deeley in a nutshell. She's so damned relaxed and in the moment and comfortable that she makes Ryan Seacrest look like an uptight dweeb, which I guess he actually is. There's no bitchy forced "conflict" between Deeley and the judges, just good-natured jokes and decent questions. She might just be the most watchable human being on TV right now , not because of how she looks, but because of the easy-going vibe she gives off whenever she's on screen.

But Cat can't dance to save her life, apparently, so Joshua it is. Fingers crossed. And toes, inside the ballet slippers I wear when I watch every week.

I think pretty much everyone on this show is ridiculously talented. It's a guilty pleasure of mine, I guess. And I totally agree with you on the magic that is Cat Deeley. One of the best hosts on television, that's for damn sure.

I LOVE CAT! why is she not nominated (heck, WINNING) the reality host emmy? heidi klum WTF?
I wish Katee would have more of a personality too..she's just a bit shy and maybe tepid b/c she had that close call in the final 20 cut. BUT obviously people like her and she could win (either her or Joshua)..and if so, I hope she can act..
