Yes, it was a turbulent week racked with ch-ch-ch-changes.
Storm Large deserves top running this week for two reasons, one, she had encore last week, two, she served up the message: ch-ch-ch-changes. Her rendition of David Bowie's song, "Changes" was delivered in a classy, semi-acoustic format. She enunciated her words eloquently and did not wild-mare roll her eyeballs. I thank her for that and applaud her performance savvy and intelligence. Her performance was a stroke of true brilliance. Notwithstanding, her vocals were outstanding and she will prove to be one of the last ones standing in this competition.
Dilana performed Bad Company's "Can't Get Enough" -- she was fierce, on fire, called "Genius" by Gilby and the guys for going through the audience, getting the fans excited and then ending up in front of Supernova. Gilby thought it gave him an 'idea' of what she'd be like fronting them.
Magni is missing his son and wife and footage was shown of them. Supernova decided to bring his family to him and fly them in which was completely and magnificently compassionate. I thought Magni's initial foray into Coldplay's "Clocks" was a bit missing, but he compensated and brought the song home in a big way. This man has vocal talent; I can tell the band likes him too.
Ryan Star's star shone brightly tonight, but, in an aside to Mr. Star: watching the weekly "behind the scenes" footage, week after week, as he verbally abuses one or another of the gal contestants does nothing to promote his image. No matter how well you might perform that week, if you look like a louse it won't bode well in the long haul. Re-think how you come across to the public because that affects the band you're playing frontman for...just a thought.
Zayra Alvarez, hot stuff chica; loved the cape and leopard print outfit. Most importantly I loved her bravery, her determination. Words to describe Zayra: brave, fierce, courageous, avant-garde, dramatic, unique, sexy. She performed Tommy Tutone's famous hit "8675309" and I loved it. It took the guys 6 minutes to come to their collective senses to opine over it. Great job this week, mi hermana!
Lukas Rossi, babe, wow, was that you? Huge disappointment this week. Talk about a fall from grace. Word out — this competition is his to lose. I think it was the Hole song, "Celebrity Skin." (Now...here will enter the Courtney Love fans...screeching, because I have no love for Love.) Lukas, dude you looked lost and in a Black Hole. We're all allowed a bad night/day now and then, Gawd knows I've had my share of "f**ck ups" and faux paux... Perhaps Lukas is just setting up something completely amazing for the next week. (Tip, Mr. Rossi: dye your hair darlin,' really, do it...)
