It’s always them.
So, why do I watch with her if she spoils the ending? That’s the beauty of Psych. It’s one of those shows everybody enjoys. There are not many shows like that anymore. Amanda and my parents watch General Hospital and Desperate Housewives together. I'd rather crawl in a hole and die. There are a lot of shows Amanda and I watch together. But other than Big Brother and a few other shows, Psych is the family show.
I like how Shawn and Gus are polar opposites. Shawn comes off to his father (Corbin Bernsen) as a slacker. Shawn is laid back and would rather play some video games than watch the National Spelling Bee. Gus, on the other hand, keeps him in line. Gus is much more serious. He was the one pointing out they had twelve hours to solve a crime and Shawn was headed to a party.
Although, Shawn solves all the crimes, he wouldn’t be able to do so without his sidekick. That doesn’t mean Shawn doesn’t keep Gus in line. Gus may be serious, but Shawn knows Gus secretly wants to lighten up. And Shawn is determined to make it happen, no matter how crazy he drives Gus. It’s a symbiotic relationship and it’s interesting to watch the best friends try and work together.
Currently, Psych has aired four episodes — the pilot, "Spellingg Bee" (spelled that way), "Speak now or Forever hold your Piece," and "Women Seeking Dead Husband-Smokers ok, No Pets." The next episode airs Friday, August 4. It’s called “9 Lives.” Basically, Shawn realizes a suicide is really a murder. Unfortunately, the only witness Shawn has is a cat. You can check out of the episode in a preview on the network's website.
Psych is one of those shows I would give up chocolate for a week to watch. It’s that good. It’s that funny. Move over Monk, fake psychic Shawn Spencer can solve crimes, too.
