Ah, Lost…
What a truly great show. I started watching halfway into the first season, when they took a break and ran all the reruns. I’ve been caught — hook, line, and sinker — ever since.
“Lockdown” was a Locke-centric episode. We learned more about John Locke’s relationship with his father and how he lost Helen. Naturally, this was all interspliced into the hatch going into lockdown mode and pretty much crushing Locke’s legs. Poor man, he was in a wheelchair before Oceanic Flight 815 crashed and mysteriously could walk once he found himself on the island. My first thought was honestly, “They can’t do that to Locke, he just won them an Emmy for the show!”
Jack and Sawyer finally had their pissing contest; Kate even offered to go find a ruler for them. I’m still unsure why Sawyer bet the medicine against fruit. Fruit he could have gone and picked more of. It isn’t like there is another medicine supply on the island, that they know of anyway. I think that was a dumb move on his part, since that was ultimately where he got his power. That and the guns. Like Jack said, “When I need the guns, I’ll get them.” But it was nice of Jack to win the medicine so the rest of the survivors could actually use medication instead of doing laundry for a tube of Neosporin.
Poor Hurley feels out of the loop. Well, they are keeping him out. I wish they wouldn’t, as I absolutely love him. Seeing the previews for next week has me worried. JJ Abrams never kills off the right people. Sigh. I suppose that is the point.
We’ve all known something wasn’t right with Henry since he was first caught. I mean, there is a reason Locke and Jack don’t trust him and keep him locked in the armory. He seems mightily suspicious, but insists he is from Minnesota, crashed on the island, and has buried his wife. He makes claims about a hot air balloon, but who knows if he is serious or using it as a ploy to lead people out there into a trap? Charlie, Sayid, and Ana Lucia trek a day away to find this balloon. And they do, along with a grave. The problem is, there is a man buried in there. A man by the name of Henry Gale. At least we know how ‘Henry’ came up with that name.

I'm worried about Hurley as well. After seeing his friend from the loony bin (hey, I'm a professional, I've worked in these places and can call them that!), there is definitely something horrible about to go down.
Excellent episode! I want to know what that design was on the door, though. Hmmm...

The Others are those folks residing on the island that won't let you see them unless they want you to. I thought they were from Dharma too, but it seems like they simply work against the Dharma Initiative. But who knows.
I hope Hurley doesn't die next week. And yes, I want to know what was on the door too.

But hey folks, the head scratcher for the writers to explain is why Locke, who's so smart and resourceful, decided to go through all that effort to pry to gates up when he knew, as he instructed "Henry" when it was time to beat the clock, that all he had to do was climb though the ducts to get out. Why didn't Locke just do that in the first place??

I have a new theory that has to do with the characters' relationships to each other before the crash (i.e., Sawyer & Jack's dad, Kate's father & Sayid, etc.)
Did anybody notice that Locke's father claimed he got the $700,000 in a "retirement con"? So he's a con-man....what do you want to bet that he is the original Sawyer?

I saw JJ Abrams at Wondercon '06 and he said he hasn't been involved with Season 2 of Lost because he was working on the movie MI: III. So I don't think he has any part in if anyone dies this season.

Apparently I was just told from a friend that the chick whose house Locke inspects because the lady is buying the house is Sayid's babe.

I think that The Others are all members of the Dharma Initiative, by what they've shown this season.

Erin, while you seemed to like the reruns (because they helped you catch up), I simply hated them. There was too much wasted time and I was "lost" to this show.
I think ABC should allow the season of a dramatic series like this (I mean who cares if "Faith & Hope" is in reruns?) to unfold in 22 consecutive weeks (the way Fox does with 24). Otherwise, I can't devote time to it and wait over those repeated episodes.

It was a freaking great episode. I walked around all day at work trying to find someone to talk to about it. Sadly no one there watches the show. Someone claimed to, but then said she missed it last night to watch South Park. The nerve!
I agree with Victor. The reruns are insanely annoying. It really ruins the momentum of the show to only have new ones once a month.
And what happened to Invasion? The Evidence is ok, but I'm kind of hooked on Invasion and its startin to piss me off that they keep dropping it for weeks.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I find the reruns annoying and they upset me too. I was just mentioning that that was when I first started watching it, during the break in the first season.

Lost is such an amazing show.
But thank you for saying what has needed to be said about ABC's atrocious handling of that time period on Wednesday nights.
They very nearly "Lost" me altogether during the first season when weeks and weeks would go by without a new episode. By the time of the season ending cliffhanger with the opening of "the Hatch", they we're able to rehook me. But man, how frustrating was that?
This year has been a slight improvement since Lost has taken so many interesting turns in terms of plot and introducing so many intriguing new characters (who besides me loves the "Mr. Eko" character?).
It's like a cross between the X Files and Twin Peaks on a desert island...how can you not love it?
Now if they can just figure out what to do with that 10:00 time period...which has become even more ridiculous than it was with Lost last year.
The revolving door that time period has become now between Alias, The Evidence, and Invasion has pretty much buried any interest I once had in Invasion.
C'mon ABC...a little consistency please?

Does anyone know a site that has a good pic of the back of the door? I normally record each episode so I can go back and look at stuff like this (like the images in the 'creature' when it confronted Eko) but I didn't have anything to record on this time.
