TV Review: Live Blogging '24' Season Premiere

I'm watching the two-hour premiere of 24. And I'll probably end up recording tomorrow's as I don't have the day off. From the promos it seems to feature, Chloe; the Quirky annoying heartless nerd. The combo is bad. Heartless is bad either way.

I'm going to be much less patient if the plot starts going screwy. Last season tested my patience and my willingness to swallow large gaps of reason. The clock's ticking ... ...

7 to 8 a.m. We're in Mexico [wrong, California]. He's working oil wells in .... ?

President Logan, cowardly ass still around. He's reading hmself for an arms treay with North Korea. Sorry, Iran. Sorry Pakistan. Wait ... Russia????

Former President David Palmer and opportunistic brother powwow in an LA office. Says he's writing memoirs - better then James Frey one would hope — . "maybe it's put me in a melancholy mood."

Ooooh. Palmer just got shot by a sniper.

Scene ... Presidential Retreat. Hidden Valley, CA

"Don't underestimate the power of an image." .. defining moment of my presidency. "We have to make sure the media presents it the right way." ... Somehow that's the defining moment of the man, methinks. He's not overly concerned with Palmer (who we remember basically saved his bacon last season) Shocked, lingering look on chief of staff Mike's face. "David Palmer has been assassinated." Logan is only upset because it ruins his moment in the spotlight. "I don't believe this," Logan says. Well, that's certainly a bummer.

Scene ... CTU ... woah that fat dude's bigger.

Logan: "Not to diminish the loss we're all feeling right now but I'm expecting the Russian president soon." .308 bullet from building across the street they have discoverd hit Palmer. And we don't even know who killed Kennedy? Or Kenny. Won't cancel arms agreement treaty. Political and economic capital wasted, Logan says. "If we call this off, they won't come back," Logan says.

....

Chloe sleeping with underling Spencer ... "Arrogance doesn't turn me on. ..." BS. She's got a hard-on for Jack. This was the shocker they were preparing us for "in the first 10 minutes" by the way. The fact that Chloe looks kind of hot.

Bauer watching it on TV ... sheds a tear. Still has that gun underneath his couch. "Frank" that is. That's his alias.

One of the two hotties from Spin City (OK three of you count the late addition Heather Locklear) is an aquintance of Jack's. Arrogant son she has. Minute Maid orange juice sotThey're in some English speaking country. The arrogant son Derek seems to want to be Mr. Spy. ... Says he had friends on an oil well where Jack said he worked last summer in Alaska. Lady not worried about his past. "I trust my instincts."

My favorite show. The sarcasm and frivolity of the blow-by-blow of a show this fascinating and well-done turned me off after 5 or 6 entries, even though I tragically missed the first half-hour.

Contra our blogger, last season was completely persuasive and riveting.

David, if you read other people's blow by blows before this one - yep I completey understand your point.

By the way, Last May 24, I called the 24 finale the worst episode ever

Fixed spelling of Aubrey to Audrey. Added Kenny-Kennedy line. Couldn't resist that one.

Monday's will be the regular days for the show.

Ehhh.. at least this was better than watching the bears lose :(.

24 tries (more than any other show I know of) to be technically accurate with their references to computers, but it sort of comes off goofy: their reference to redirecting network traffic, or the wireless AP's, or Chloe asking for that [intel?] mac's IP address. But at least they attempt it. Can't say that for any movies.

I miss liking this program. I am kind of into this season, but I miss every other week because of having to cover council meetings.

PS. glad I waited to get 24 DVDs because they're like $10 bucks now for the whole season. I have to watch the first couple of seasons again and remind myself when the writers weren't spinning their wheels and believing the hype.
