TV Review: Human Target - "Embassy Row"

Three episodes in, and Human Target is proving itself to be one of the best new shows of midseason! Mark Valley is Christopher Chance, a private security guy who protects his clients from various threats. How? By taking on a cover so he can infiltrate the baddie's arena and draw out the threat. While things can get dangerous, Chance does everything he can to make sure the threat is taken into custody. Usually.

Of course, a man like Chance cannot take on the no-goodniks alone. Enter Winston (Chi McBride), the business guy. He interviews potential clients to see if the firm can help. Guererro (Jackie Earle Haley) is the ethically challenged operative who works behind the scenes to get the dirty details.

This week gets personal. Chance has to figure out why a good friend of his is now dead, and the only way to figure it out is to breach security at the Russian Embassy. What could possibly go wrong?

Whoever cast Sean Maher as a guest star should be commended. If you've ever seen Firefly or Serenity, Maher is an instantly recognizable name. I have to smile at Maher taking on a role which involves him being poisoned by an airborne substance. After all, he is well known for playing Dr. Simon Tam in the world of science fiction. Watching Maher sweat will make viewers sit with bated breath to see if he survives. C'mon, do you think I'm going to give away the entire plot? Go look for yourself.

Valley also has sci-fi in his resume. A Fringe guy and a doctor who travels aboard a space ship in the same room is just too yummy. Besides, these two are eye candy. Maher has the stand-out looks (not to mention a nice chest), while Valley has the bearing of the military man he is. Put it this way, Valley can stride into a room like nobody's business. Couple that with searing blue eyes and the ratings soar.
