TV Review: Home of the Brave

Home of the Brave is showing Monday at 10 pm on Court TV and repeats Sunday at 2 pm. It will also be out on DVD on August 23rd.

Mary Liuzzo Lillieboe writes about her mother Viola Liuzzo who was murdered working for civil rights in the south and is the subject of this Oscar nominated documentary.

I saw it at the San Francisco International Film Festival last year. How her children dealt with her death in different ways is almost as important a story as her work for civil rights.

Uncommon Courage: The Viola Liuzzo story is an hour long 2003 radio documentary. Listen to the entire program (free registration required).

Excerpts from The Informant: The FBI, the Ku Klux Klan, and the Murder of Viola Liuzzo are online. A radio interview with May (2nd item).
