TV Review: Hell's Kitchen - Episode 4

Part of: The TV Show Must Go On

I think it may be sinking through to foul-mouthed, sometimes fowl-cooking chef Gordon Ramsay that he has no real winners with the candidates this season. I personally don't think any of these folks could make it past greasy-spoon or, perhaps the best might make the line at a franchise restaurant. That's sad.

As the show opened for the fourth episode of Suppose They Gave A Gender War And Nobody Came, Garrett was complaining that Tom was dragging down the mens' team. Well, yeah ... but so did Giacomo. And Keith's too busy "rocking" his pants and "rolling" down the street to ever make it through to the end. For some reason, I can't see anyone with the nickname of K-Grease running a fancy-schmancy Zagat-rated restaurant. Go back to Jersey and work a diner down the shore, Keith. Oh — and take Tom with you! So, who's the most normal on the mens' team? Garret, the ex-prisoner prison chef. Can I get an eye roll from everyone, please?

Hell's KitchenAs far as the women, I still like Heather for the win. That is, unless Ramsay decides none of these frycooks are up to the challenge. Each week, Sara is irritating me more and more. Virginia and Rachel are ho-hum at the best, inept at the worst. And, Maribel is still so out of her league that it's shocking she doesn't spend entire episodes in a panic attack.

Due to the fact the men were down to three, Ramsay declared that Rachel, Sara and Heather were leaders. The men needed a leader, so he gave them Heather. Then they all went off to eat at the busiest restaurant in Los Angeles, Pinks. It's a hot dog/fast food place.

The first challenge for the teams this week was to serve lunch to a bunch of brats (ahem, children) who were obviously told to be on their worst behavior. Kids never act like that when their parents aren't with them to give dirty looks to strangers who dare say something about their behavior!

Both teams actually completed the service — pizza, hamburgers, french fries, and cake. The Blue Team (men plus Heather) narrowly got the win and went off to an amusement park.

Sara takes duplicity to a new level. I hope she gets the axe soon enough. I still think it's gonna be between Heather and Garett.

Garrett and Heather are the only two anywhere near capable. And, I still think neither of them are ready!

There didn't seem to be much improvement even though this was the 4th evening service. Ramsay should review the footage and see how Sara screwed up and lied. He was really busting Virginia for "lying," when it was Sara who was lying. And what's up with Rachel? She "forgot" to take money to get ice? That was just stupid. The only way to win is to work as a team, and without Heather, the red team is going to tank.

Hopefully, in the next episode, Sara will get her comeuppance. It's like Sara is wanting the red team to lose so that the others will be eliminated, leaving her, which may eventually backfire. Even if Ramsay doesn't see everything that goes on, I bet those sous-chefs do, and I'm sure that Ramsay knows the strengths and weaknesses of each competitor.

The thing about Sara is her damned smirk, and i'm sure the Red Team's sous chef has picked up on that. She was they one who dumped the remnants of the cake on the floor during the clean-up procedure. I'm also sure that both sous chefs have picked up on the fact that things go better with Heather on a team. The Blue Team was on a roll and probably could have completed their service. Whether she'll survive once they merge the teams is another question. If Sara's there I'm sure there'll be sabotage of Heather's chances.

where this show falls flat is that they never show ramsey giving the teams direction before the next service.

all we see is the next service with the teams flailing away in the same manner as the last time around.

A new blogger has caught Ramsay's invective perfectly. Some kind of spoof of famous people, but worth a read for the "f" count.

I went to Culinay School with Heather but never did i expect her to
    be on a TV show
after working at Coyote Ugly or some place like that,
but i have to hand it to her she seems to be kicking the competitions butt and that nice to see
