Last Friday was the season premiere of the Canadian drama Degrassi: The Next Generation. Degrassi is famous for being the most Go There-est show on television. Season six is sure not to disappoint. It comes with an awesome new theme song, which is very different compared to the old ones. There's only been one episode so far and I'm already hooked.
I remember when Degrassi first premiered on the-N. I was only 11. At that time, the show was still very innocent. There was no talk of drugs, sex, or anything other shows generally shushed. This quickly changed. The one thing I do remember about season one was the Emma-Sean relationship.
Emma (Miriam McDonald) and Sean (Daniel Clark) were my sister's and my favorite relationship. We were big Emma-Sean fans. We were heartbroken in the season finale when they broke up. Then they got back together, but the relationship was ephermal. Sean became all "gangsta" and started hanging out with people like Jay (Mike Lobel), who is clearly bad news. He convinced Sean to steal Emma's dad's brand new laptop. Emma started dating Chris Sharpe (Daniel Morrison), who was never a big hit with fans. Sean moved on to Ellie Nash (Stacey Farber) and, although I love Ellie's character, she did not belong with Sean.
Amanda and I always thought, eventually, Sean and Emma would get back together. After all, Sean did save Emma's life when Rick (Ephraim Ellis) pointed a gun at her head. Then, Daniel Clark left the show. I was crushed. Emma and Sean would never get back together. Sean was replaced by new bad boy, Peter Stone (Jamie Johnston), who Emma was forbidden to see. He emailed a topless video of Emma's best friend, Manny Santos (Cassie Steele), to the ENTIRE school! Oh, the nerve. As time went on, Peter showed a good side. I got used to Peter's character. He was so supportive of Emma's eating disorder.
This season's premiere marks the return of Daniel Clark. Sean moves back to Degrassi and wants one thing — Emma. Peter immediately likes Sean because Sean is so good with cars and is teaching him. That soon changes. Manny figures out right away that Sean wants Emma and warns him to back off. Wow. Manny HATES Peter, he took away her diginity (if she still had any at that point). Yet Manny knows Emma is happy and she doesn't want any trouble. What an awesome friend.

Thanks for this post. D:TNG is a great show, I've been a fan of everything Degrassi since Degrassi Junior High.
In the first scene we saw a glimpse of Toby, but he's not listed in the cast. It's too bad I think: I've always been hoping that nerdy Toby would get a cute girlfriend for a change. The whole Kendra thing was pathetic as that ugly nerdy girl was brought on just to be Toby's G/F.
Seems like my dream of Toby and Emma will never come true...

this concerns the marathon on Saturday Sept 22..I was impressed with the show however the make a wish commercial was great the first and second time I saw it during the first show...after the 10th time of the same commercial..it became an anti commercial and defeated it's purpose...I am not now a fan of make a wish since the gave a child his wish to hunt game and kill it...the world is full of incosistancies and their half hearted apology when publicity aired..soured my enthusiasm toward their purpose...

my opinion of degrassi was very positive..I only put in the prior comments to help the show and increase the positive feedback to it...sorry if you took it the wrong way..because of the comments on the commercials and it's source...the day the news article on make a wish was made public ...I had to put my beloved dog to sleep..a very bad day...sorry...
