Julia Ormond returned for what is said to be her final contracted episode. The interaction between her character and Mac is solid. They are department head and his immediate boss, but the respect for one another makes for decent conflict resolution. It's a completely different situation than Mac and Sinclair (Mykelti Williamson), but I get the impression Mac knows Gillian is entering new territory at NYPD and wants to give her some space. Does this mean Gillian Whitford is gone for good? Possibly. Keep watching...
Craig T. Nelson began his group of three scheduled appearances as a newspaper publisher who knows the dirt behind the squeaky clean facade. He and Mac butt heads with ease. Neither is a stupid man, and it shows! I get the feeling Nelson will play out his character as a money talker. In other words, he can grease the way for bad things occurring. Get his hands dirty? Not a chance, but he'll pay for another to.
This just might go back to the cipher which got stolen a bit back. Movers and shakers were about to have their ill deeds exposed, but the evidence disappeared ("Sex, Lies, and Silicone"). The face of who took the thing was never shown, but I thought the person was male. A potential mole in the department could be coming up.

I like CSI NY and CSI, the first one. I could never get into CSI Miami. I don't like the lead guy.
