TV Review: Boston Legal "New Kids on the Block" - Page 3

Part of: Boston Legal

In a private office, Claire and Clarice sit down. She says she knows it is an act, and gets him to take off the wig. She persuades him to go the to the movies with her. She lets him leave as Clarice, but the real client had better be the one who answers when she comes to his door. Alan is just outside, and is impressed.

Jeffrey shows the tape to the client's mother. It's a therapy session where her son mentions he might want to kill the judge. The judge agrees to let it in during a closed discussion in chambers. A comment by the judge suggests he could be biased, and Jeffrey is going to have to work to get a not guilty 'verdict'.

The client tells Denise and Jeffrey God talks to him in his sleep and might like to see the judge dead. He wants out of prison, NOW.

Ugh and Ugh! Okay, this had depth, but problems abound. Too many storylines, for one thing. Denny was interesting, but it clogged up the rest. What possessed someone to bring in a character almost exactly like Marlene? Fresh blood is not meant to be carbon copies. I only hope she stays away from Alan. Craig Bierko may be a fine actor, but he's Alan and Brad put together! Having said that, the exchange between Jeffrey and Brad worked well. Is Denise going to share her engagement with Jeffrey? It would have helped tremendously.

Let's see, three new characters, although the actress playing Claire is not in opening credits.  One lengthy trial, and the defendant is not likable. Sounds like the last season of The Practice . Obviously, the case is based on the real life shooting of a judge in Atlanta. Oh, and the religious aspect. Sharon Lawrence used it for her turn on the aforementioned show. Look, the idea is decent. However, haven't BL producers learned anything from last season?
