TV Review: American Idol - Top Three Results

Going into the top three results show, I was pretty sure who was going to be eliminated, but with American Idol, you never really know until the votes are announced. There have been many episodes (in this season and in past seasons) where I was truly shocked at who went home and who stayed. So, while I thought I knew what was going to happen - I also knew that anything COULD happen.

As normal on results night, the show opened with a group number. This week, the final three performed "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now." Following, we moved right into this week's Ford commercial, and then - the video recap from Tuesday's show. Camera shots of the audience also showed us past idols were in-house.

Fantasia performed with a great deal of energy, which Ryan Seacrest remarked on. I'm not sure I like her bright red hair, but she hopped around the stage a lot and the audience seemed to be into it. I've seen better performances from Fantasia, but it was still nice to see her on the Idol stage again.

Each of the three contestants was called to stage one at a time, where a video recap showed each of their individual back-home trips, but no results were given at this time. Finally, at the end of the show, it was time to send someone home. David Archuleta was the first to know he was safe. Ryan chit-chatted, drawing out the elimination a little longer than necessary, and suddenly I was worried that David Cook was going home. I am happy to report that David Cook was safe.

Not that I wanted Syesha to leave - because honestly, I think I would have enjoyed a Syesha/David C finale more than I will enjoy the David/David finale. But I definitely thought David Cook deserved to be in the final two - and I'm thrilled he is.

So - next week is it! The last of this season's American Idol. I know who I want to win (David Cook), but tell me what you think!

What bugged me was that last night Yahoo! put up a headline that said something like, "Idol Elimination Shocker?" with the subhead, "Everyone assumed that Syesha was going to be eliminated." WTF?

Considering that Yahoo is the front page set on my browser (and I'm sure other people's) and the West Coast doesn't get the results 3 hours behind, it would be nice of them not to spoil it for the rest of us, and especially not to create false controversy with this headline. Ridiculous.

I would have liked Syesha to pull an upset, but I stopped thinking there was even a remote possibiliy of that after the Tuesday night performances.

I want David Cook to win!!!

He is one of the best Idol contestants ever, and he wasn't even planning on auditioning.
