Jason Castro - "Travelin' Thru"
Still adorable, Jason did a nice job with this song, though I thought it was better from the midway point on than it was in the very beginning. I still think he needs to bring something different to his performance or he won't last much longer. Everything we've seen from Jason has been consistently similar. Randy: "It was pretty good." Paula: "You were confident and it was great." Simon: "I didn't like that at all."
Carly Smithson - "Here You Come Again"
I enjoyed Carly's performance. Her voice had a throaty quality I don't recall hearing before, and it added a nice touch to the song. I wouldn't say it was one of her best performances, but I definitely think it will be more than enough to keep her in the competition another week. Randy: "That will probably be one of the better performances of the night." Paula: "That was glorious." Simon: "It was good, but not great. You've got to have a word with whoever is dressing you at the moment. I think at this stage, without being rude, you have to start looking like a star."
David Archuleta - "Smoky Mountain Memories"
I loved this performance! David A's voice is perfect for ballads and he picked a perfect song to showcase that talent. At this point, with only three performers to go, I'd have to say this performance is my favorite of the night. I still want to see him do something fun — but his performance with this song on this night trumps fun. Randy: "That was the best performance of the night." Paula: "You are glorious." Simon: "This week, absolutely on the money."
Kristy Lee Cook - "Coat of Many Colors"
I expected Kristy to bring it hard and heavy this week. After all, it's Dolly Parton, and Kristy is this year's country singer. Alas, I don't think she brought anything special to the song. I don't know, maybe it's me. I can't just get excited over her when I feel like she should have been gone weeks ago. Randy said, "Country music is definitely your wheelhouse." Paula said, "You look stunning." Simon said, "This week was pleasant, but forgettable."

For the most part I agree with everything you said, with one exception. I'm afraid Brooke's 'just okay' performance could really hurt her this week.
Or maybe I'm just sour on the the fact that Kristy Lee Cook and Ramiele Malubay remain week after week while less deserving go home.
What was missing in Brooke's rendition of Jolene was the passion. It's a song of desperate pleading and she didn't have the emotion behind it. Like you said, it wasn't bad - not by a long shot, but it just seemed to miss the mark.
David A and David C were terrific, but Michael Johns blues version of "It's All Wrong but It's All Right" was the best for me. I'm so glad he finally hit his stride.

Brooke White - "Jolene"
"I didn't like this very much. I'm not sure what it was, exactly,"
Simon and Connie nailed it. This was the only performance I saw because I love The White Stripes' version, and Brooke had absolutely no idea the emotion of the song. You don't grin like an idiot and wink at the audience while your pleading with another woman to stay away from your man and not ruin your life.
