So, at the end of the last hour, we saw Vice President Daniels ordering a “warning” strike on The Unnamed Country. Daniels is feeling a little petulant about the radioactive leak over in California, even though it wasn’t caused from an actual detonation. This is just the latest in his efforts to distort the truth to serve his own ultra-aggressive purposes. But we can take much comfort in knowing that he’s just trying to be a good Patriot. Isn’t that what the bad guys always say?.
We open seeing CTU type good guys removing the ailing drone pilot out of his hideout, but he dies before they can get him in the vehicle. Jack utters his first “Damnit “of the hour.
Abu Fayed and Gredenko argue some more. Maybe Fayed fancies himself a CTU staffer because he grabs Gredenko by the throat. There is vitriol in the air. The two blame each other, their hormones, and the alignment of the planets for the muck-ups of the day so far. Gredenko calls someone named Mark Hauser who is apparently cooking something with red peppers that his autistic brother, Brady, will not like.
However, the pepper preference of the Hauser brothers is no secret because at CTU Chloe has been monitoring calls between Gredenko and anyone he’s ever known. Literally. The call was scrambled but they have Pepper Hauser’s address. So, while the Hausers are blithely eating peppers and blintzes and downloading files to complete Gredenko’s request, Jack and a TAC team are on their way (with a nice bottle of Manischewitz).
At the remote pilot’s hideout a rather swell looking guy named Johnson (what a fun name) finds a special device – a remote access module. This was the little goody that enabled the pilot to hook into Nadia’s work station at CTU without her knowledge. This means that Nadia wasn’t actually alerting Fayed and goons. – He tells Doyle, but between the two of them they decide to bury the evidence- figuratively speaking of course. Johnson says he owes Doyle. Metaphorically speaking, I’m sure. Not like in real dollars.
Karen implores Sandra Palmer to give the OK for the doctor to bring Wayne out of his medically induced coma. It’s a last ditch effort to get Wayne alert and competent enough to stop the nuclear strike against The Unnamed Middle Eastern Country. Oh, goody, they gave us a hint! It’s in the Middle East. OK, we knew that. I’m just excited. Finally Sandra agrees. Daniels hits the roof, figuratively speaking, when he learns this and he calls Wayne’s doctor and reams him out, so to speak. The lovely doctor stands firm against Cowboy Daniels.

Nice observations, MK. I was thinking the same thing about those Joint Chiefs. They must be smoking some heavy duty doobers to be agreeing with Daniels.
Oh, and who the hell is that blonde making goo-goo eyes at Daniels? She's starting to bother me. Too bad Jack is on the other coast, or we could have him interrogate her.
