TV Review: 24 Hours 23 and 24: Season Finale - Page 2

And on to the rest of the story:

Now, I forget why the TAC team assigned to rescue the terrorist held sub only consisted of Jack, Henderson and an agent McCullough. Though Henderson is an incredibly skilled tactician and has balls of steel (he’s Robocop after all), he was without a firearm, and he’s a BAD GUY! So, this TAC team was compromised from the get-go. However, they did manage to board with the help of a Petty Officer Rooney, the only survivor from the Sentox attack. And they did manage to stop the missile launch – and kill Bierko. And then, where is Henderson? Ah, this leads to my first mistake of the night. I didn’t think Jack would shoot him. However, I should have known when he asked to be taken “off comm.”

Even Karen and Bill were not surprised when Jack reported Henderson’s death. “He fired on me.” Their brief exchange of looks said, “yeah…right.”

Chloe pulled off one major surprise, recruiting her never-before-mentioned, somewhat annoying ex-husband Morris (who, answers the question, what might become American Idol’s Chris Daughtry were he to give up his career as a musician and turn into a fey tech guru a few years hence) to help her with some fancy tech-communications stuff that in turn enabled Jack to ultimately get the goods on Logan.

The ex husband is not such a tosser, though. Bill gave Chloe a photo that had been in Edgar’s possessions. It’s a photo of him and Chloe in happier, more alive times. Turns out Chloe and Edgar do hook up, if only on celluloid. Chloe’s eyes tear up as she stares at the picture. Morris appears over her shoulder, offering comfort. Well done Morris, well done.

Jack confronting Logan. I didn’t think Jack would shoot him, even when he had gun aimed at the Presidential noggin. However, the president was not confessing squat, Jack wavered and Logan pounced on his uncertainty. I was disappointed. Had Jack really lost his touch? Gone off his feed? Misplaced his mojo? He couldn’t at least indulge in a nice pistol whipping?

Oh me of little faith – it was all a glorious set up.

When Jack hesitated, the Secret Service swooped in and took him into custody. Logan then proceeded to the airfield to make some funereal remarks over David Palmer’s casket. Martha, succumbing to fatigue, grief and revulsion, interrupted the ceremony. She went wacko. She loudly accused her husband of murder and so forth, but was quickly hustled into an adjacent hangar and Logan followed.

Nice job covering the bases here and giving the color commentary. I for one think the producers and writers didn't know how to end it. There have been many lose threads never tied up on 24 and characters who have disappeared. The way they did this was lowest of the low.

Of course, Jack will be back and, when those Chinese invariably drop their guard a little, Jack is going on the attack. There is another possibility: they recruit Jack to work for them and he does so to gain freedom.

No matter what, it's going to be a long 7 months.

If I missed the season finale, does anyone know when it will be on tv again?
