Funny thing, in the last week I’ve gotten over Edgar’s death. (Okay – we weren’t that close) I forgot though, that those stuck in the situation room just watched him die a minute ago. While an anonymous CTU announcer tells everyone that Sentox VX nerve gas is so five minutes ago – its now called Sentox VX-1. Remember the good old days – err, hours – when we just called it plain old ‘nerve gas,’ we see that Chloe is in shock. And - just in case we didn’t realize that - we’ve got Kim’s Creepy Boyfriend/Shrink to inform everyone. And Jack needs a building grid and Chloe is the only one who can do that. (Of course.) But she’s got that shock thing going on, so she’s useless at the moment. As the tears roll down her face, she laments, “He was a good guy, and I treated him like crap.” The rest of the room looks up, “And your point is?”
Meanwhile in ‘holding,’ Samwise is crying mea culpa with a Red Shirt who’s not too sympathetic after Sam explained that he didn’t report his key card stolen. “So, we’re all going to die, because you were too embarrassed?”
Still at CTU, we see that Agent Burke was torturing Robocop or trying to, until Tony sneaks in, and takes his gun and waves it in Robocop’s face. We are reminded of The Princess Bride as Tony tells Robocop who he is: “Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father; prepare to die.” Just in time, Jack can see him via security video feed. Audrey and others are working on getting the communications going so Jack can actually talk to Tony. Yay, it works, and like the voice of God (but of course) Jack’s disembodied voice comes through medical. Tony does stand down eventually, but he still has the gun. Strains of Aerosmith run through my head…”Tony’s got a gun…”
Meanwhile Homeland Security is on the phone with Veep and Prez. Veep is still pushing for the whole Martial Law thing. I’m not having warm fuzzies about Homeland Security. First they have the nerve to call Carrie on the phone and get her fired, and up till this episode, they’ve been totally standoffish. What, do they think they’re too good? Now, as we’ll learn, they plan to swoop in, clean up and take over CTU.
Quick scene with Snakehead (Bierko) talking with a lackey:
Lackey: How much gas will we release?
Snakehead: (in his best menacing voice) All of it! Muhaahah!

I like that bit about "de-pricking" a guy.
That was sad but under the circumstances, what could he do?

Good job of summing up a lot of stuff happening at once. I was happy to see Ponyboy get his neck squeezed; I'm hoping Jack will get Bierko in position real soon. But wait a minute; Robo-Henderson is now running around with a gun. I knew that would happen.
And weeks ago in one of these posts I warned of the return of Mandy (suddenly Barry Manilow's sickening song is in my head). She and Jack have unfinished business (the way he and Nina Meyers once did). I hate to see such a pretty face get ruined, but that's the life she leads.
Great episode and a great season. I did hate to see Tony go; he was my favorite after Jack.

Nice summary, Mary K... thanks for the laughs. I particulary enjoyed Tony masquerading as Inigo Montoya.
However, one point of contention--- that was not Mandy at the end. The woman is named Collette Stenger (check out 7:53pm here). Although I would not rule out that the great Mandy could still show up in the upcoming hours.

Finally - I have a chance to respond to these comments.
Pat: yeah, I liked that line too, thanks!
Victor (and Mark) So, maybe it's not Mandy? I wouldnt have known her if I fell over her (mandy) from last season. But I saw this dark haired - obviously somewhat naughty, chick, and thought, hmm, is that who I think it is?
IMDB lists Mia Kirshner (Mandy) in the credits for last nights ep.
So, I made an assumption, and guess what happened! LOL.
Of course, IMDB also listed Kim as appearing a few episodes earlier than she actually DID appear.

Mary: I think you hinted at it--- IMDB is not always 100% reliable! My wife noticed that before as well, so we cross checked at the Fox synopsis. If your early entry theory (i.e. Kim) holds true, maybe Mandy is just a couple episodes away.
BTW, I also believe McGill was killed by the Sauron VX-1 gas, not Sentox. ;) Just kidding.
Funny that after Tony had gotten shot, beat up, blown up and everything else--- a little needle brings him down. Oh well, lesson learned, having a conscience kills!

a) The woman in the room (with the guy who plays Desmond on Lost, no less) is called Collete Stenger, as per what it says on the IMDB.
b) Last week, Chloe said that she could seal off "the Situation Room, the upper offices, and clinic isolation". When did Holding Room 4 suddenly become able to seal itself off from the nerve gas?
c) "I am Tony Almeida; you killed my wife; prepare to die!"
d) This episode was one of the best of the season.

Having reviewed the recording of the last episode, I realize that woman is NOT Mandy (though she is doing a great imitation). She is taller and not as willowy; Mandy is more petite and deadly.
Well, maybe she'll be back and that would really help make Jack's day more, uh, exciting.

Mark - Funny about the Sauron thing. And ya know, when Sam/Lynn and Red Shirt lay dying, I couldn't help but be reminded of the scene when Sam and Frodo are at Mt. Doom, fearing that this is the end for them. They pretty much said their goodbyes and all. But to incorporate that into my post - ah, just didn't have time.

Now, I love my IMDB, but as it's been mentioned Here, there are often some mistakes. Damn. And I also noted that they never mentioned Ms. Hayes from Homeland Security. (IMDB that is)
But CTU never makes mistakes, right? : )

HA! Speaking of mistakes --
(but that wasnt' me)

one more thing - a lil freaky
The 13th episode aired on the 13th (insert organ music here)

Good stuff. I see you noticed the Princess Bride similarity too! Good rundown of Logan's Bad Day too.

Jeff - 'Logan's Bad Day' Yes, reminds me of that book - Alexanders's No-Good Very Bad Day I used to read it to my kids. I should have titled my post that (President Logan's No Good Very Bad Day)
