TV Recap: 24 Day Seven, Hour 6 - Bill and Chloe’s Excellent Adventure on Wheels - Page 2

Part of: Bauer Power

And don’t forget our friends the Matobos, they are escorted from the bright yellow van all questions and confusion. Jack explains that contrary to appearances, he and Tony are actually the cavalry, sent to save the day. Just a wee catch though, the former Prime Minister and his wife are expected to go along with the kidnapping, and let Dubaku question them. Or more specifically, torture his wife Alama until he gives up the information about his allies in Sangala.

Bill asks Chloe to prepare a wire for Matobo. As she’s opening equipment and snapping on plastic gloves, Matobo asks if she’s FBI. “No, I’m a stay-at-home Mom.” Oh we do love this girl. Chloe applies a transmitter to one of his teeth, and they are good to go.

Henry is still hanging around with Gedge, or rather waiting to hang. Samantha is on her way into her apartment, wonders at the sight of the First Gentleman sitting on her sofa, motionless except for futile lip quivers, and before she can ask him again ‘sup, Gedge and his plastic sleeves move in for the kill. Three knife stabs and she’s done. Poor Henry can’t even throw up. Gedge, that dirty-rat-bastard, drags Henry up to the loft, throws the ripped up cable from the living room over a sturdy beam, and prepares a noose.

Gee, I wonder what he intends?

And Dubaku is getting pissy, as he realizes that President Taylor will not cave. (Can’t blame Ethan, he’s a broken record on the withdrawal agenda.) So, one more show of force results in two planes being re-routed within view of the White House, on a collision course with each other. By the time Allison and her staff reach the windows, fireballs are spewing from the sky along with airplane – and other – debris. Even Ethan looks horrified.

'Meanwhile, Bill and Chloe have arrived at that abandoned construction site to dig up Renee. This has me stumped, when or where did Jack or Tony get the opportunity to call them?'

    Jack's wearing a wire.

"Matobo asks [Chloe] if she’s FBI. "No, I’m a stay-at-home Mom."'

Best line of the season so far. By a long way.

Thanks Doc D. I should have known that. (OK how long has he been wearing it? Since he first met up with B&C?)

Yeah, Chloe's line was awesome. I hope we get plenty more like that from her.

    Yes, since then.

As far as Henry making it home safe, I'm afraid that because Gedge put his fingerprints on the knife, it's going to look as if he slaughtered Sam in a paroxysm of rage and then offed the gallant Gedge who was attempting to restrain him. There's some mileage still in this sub-plot!

Yeah, I hate that. But I agree good mileage. And SS Agent Vossler is still lurking. Me no likey.

So: I've been reading a lot of comments and perspectives over the web that discuss and hint at Jack being killed off soon. As in next season, which will be the close for 24. (The only way this wouldn't happen would be because the producers want to make a 24 movie.) What are people's thoughts here on it? Personally, I don't like the idea of it, and it's rather toning down my enthusiasm for day 7. I'm almost not willing to become emotionally involved, which is disappointing...

Should I feel sad/let down that after all Jack's been through, they're hinting at a really sad ending? (which is a lot of cases in life.) Funny how we often crave that storybook ending; let's face it, not a reality for Jack Bauer...

Sorry for the delay in response Clare.

I hear ya. But - it's the age old challenge of keeping yourself open to good stuff despite the chance of pain. Sure, this is just a TV show, but we do become invested in fiction, just as we do in real folk.

I don't particularly care for that death of JB scenario - but I would not regret my viewing.
