The Trailer Park: Doom (Part 2)

Part of: Trailer Park

OK, they aren't already starting the sequel for this, as yet unreleased, video game adaptation. What I have seen, though, is the latest trailer for it. As much as that last trailer left me non plussed, this has me actually looking forward to it.

It still doesn't look like a "good" movie, but it certainly seems to be ratcheting up the potential "fun" factor. Not every movie has to make a statement on the human condition; some moves just have to blow stuff up real good. Doom looks like it'll fall into that fun category.

This trailer gives a better idea of the story: genetic research gone awry, we get a little better look at the team sent in to shut the facility down. The Rock is there with his swagger as the team leader, I really hope that it does well for his sake, he has great screen presence and he just keeps improving.

The best addition to this cut is the inclusion of a lot of video game like footage, combined with a bit of in-film voiceover. By that, I mean it is not trailer talk, it is meant to be in the film. We are treated to first person shooter type footage, just like the video game. You watch characters pick up their gun and move around shooting creatures just like the game. There is even an appearance from a fan favorite weapon at the end. I only hope that footage makes it into the film. It may be gimmicky, but I like it.

This trailer is definitely a step in the right direction.

The FPS shots look so unbearable, yet so right at the same time. It almost needs to be there. Can you imagine a movie with just this type of footage on a IMax screen??

I can sense motion sickness already....

Anyway, I want to see some of this, but notover doing it. This trailer does look like more fun than the teaser did, although still nothing terribly original.
