Dear Friends,
Last year, I sat down and watched President Bush's "State of the Union™" address and wrote a running diary.
So with every intention to keep the event as breathtaking and exciting as the last, I ambled over to my sofa, a glass of Port in hand, and focused on scribbling down a running diatribe.
That was indeed the intent... but for some reason during the President's first few minutes of speaking, my mind began to wander and my finger landed on the remote, switching the channel so that I was suddenly watching "Pinocchio."
Then, with momentum building, after a brief flick over to see the Prez, I landed upon "Liar, Liar." I followed that up with "Babes in Bagdad" and "Harvey."
Rounding out this "State of the Union™" film marathon, it was "Soylent Green."

Pal, you kept changing back and forth to the same channel showing the Shrub Stump Speech! How much port did you have? Are you sure you weren't playing the State of the Union drinking game? ;)

I am listening to the Jim Rome radio show at the moment and he was just talking about how odd it was for the President to talk about steroids abuse during his speech. Then they did a closeup on Peyton Manning in attendence (I'm sure he liked that).
I wish they would have done more close-ups of reactions during the speech. They seemed to get Senator Edward Kennedy squirming and shaking his head a few times.
The content of the speech aside, Bush looked pretty confident.

Er, my bad, it wasn't Peyton Manning, it was New England quarterback Tom Brady.
