I love that this film is being so talked about, engaging America (and much of the world) in a conversation about the suffering of Christ, about anti-Semitism (which this film is most definitely not; those who appear the worst in The Passion are the Roman henchmen who ruthlessly beat and bloody The Christ), and about the role of film and art in our society. This is a film unlike any other, ever. This is not a Hollywood-ized version of Christ, all clean and glowing. It's unpleasant, but necessary. If you're a Christian, you must see this film. The Passion of The Christ reinforced my faith like nothing's done before. If you love cinema, you should see it, as well. Mel Gibson has raised the bar for film in 2004; this film may well be a masterpiece. A+

Thanks Thomas, I continue to be astonished by the range of opinion, and the passion of those opinions, on this movie.

JUST what we need: a world beating invention!!!!!
and it cracks me up that these people make these remarks about "how it really shows just how much suffering Christ really went through for us" ~~~~
when there isn't even a shred of actual historical/archaelogical evidence that this "jesus christ" ever actually was a real human being that actually lived---or perhaps "he" was just a compendium of various myths and fairy tales promulgated by a very mysterious and secretive cult in the 1st century.
