The-N/Reville Creates New Reality TV Show Student Body

I live for reality TV. Survivor, Amazing Race, Big Brother... I'd rather watch those than spend a day at Disneyland. Now, that should be a crime. I can't help it; I am just so fascinated by reality shows. The-N, a nighttime network for teens, and Reville, an independent production company, have created their own reality show, Student Body, due out next summer on The-N.

Reville is the company responsible for the beloved The Office, Ugly Betty, The Tudors, as well as reality shows The Biggest Loser and Date My Mom.

This isn't The-N's first reality show either. They used to have a show called Girls vs. Boys. It was about eight or so teenagers living together and the boys and girls would face off in challenges. I don't remember who won. I do remember watching the show a lot. It was on after Radio Free Roscoe, another great show that's canceled.

This show has nothing to do with the battle of the sexes (although, we all know who's better. Right, girls?). Student Body is hosted by Laila Ali, a motivational speaker, famous athlete, and daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali. The show has produced eight one hour episodes. The show brings together two rival schools (Hmm...maybe this show should visit The-N's Degrassi, where school rivalry ultimately led to the murder of student J.T. Yorke, played by Ryan Cooley) to learn about health and fitness. Focusing on 12 specific teenagers, the show follows these students over a three month period as they are faced with various challenges toward a healthier lifestyle.

It should be interesting but I don't know if it will last. I'm not sure many students care about what they eat (just walk into a McDonald's at 3 PM). It certainly doesn't make a big impact on me. But The Biggest Loser seems to be doing well, and that's quite similar. If it does turn out to a success, maybe the-N will pick up more reality shows. Oh, I hope so.

I think this is a great idea. You are jugged on your weight first especially as a teenager. People can be a gossip, cheat, and all kinds of things and be accepted, but if you are over weight others see that first and start judging you. So I think this is a great way to help people, teach them how to eat, exercise, and they can teach others and teens can help their peers. I do not think 3 months is long enough to really change someone’s life though. Maybe 6 months, maybe extend the length of the show. Really make a difference in their lives.
Please do a follow up on their lives, maybe how it has helped their family and friends. Don't just leave them alone after the show is over.

This show is a great show.
It is not only helping kids become more healthy and be more concerned about their health, but it's saving their lives too.
They can accomplish unreachable dreams that they couldn't get to before
It'll be an inspiring show for everyone

    Good job The-N
finally they have two shows that change peoples lives
    (Queen Bees and Student Body)
    and then their regulars
    (Degrassi and Other Shows)
Finally if you just want a relaxing day and just chill out in front of the t.v The-N provides motivational shows and Drama shows for your teenager.
    I should know, I am a teenager.

This is an fabulous show!!! It is an excellent way to promote healthier livestyles for teens and what better way than having teens as the participants. Hopefully it will also show the emotional affects of teens being overweight and how important the acceptance of their peers can be for them.
How does one apply to be a participant on the show?

The Student Body show is a really awesome idea,
    I admit I was a little jealous,
I would really enjoy being on that show and getting healthy.
But Degrassi and the student body are the best shows on The N.
